title deeds

The documents that prove a person’s ownership of land and the terms on which he owns it. In the case of unregistered land they consist of all *conveyances, *mortgages, and other documents tracing ownership of the land back to a good *root of title at least 15 years old. The title deeds to registered land are the land certificate or charge certificate (see *land registration).
