unopposed proceedings

Proceedings in which any person entitled to oppose fails to take any step (or any further step) in the proceedings, having been given an opportunity to do so. Unopposed proceedings often end in a judgment in *default but may not do so in proceedings in which the remedy claimed by the plaintiff can only be obtained by some judicial determination, e.g. in *undefended causes in divorce proceedings.
